Noise nuisance neighbours; from music to marijuana to violence

As promised, part 2 of my sorrows called 'dear' neighbours. In my previous blog I wrote that my family and I moved because of nuisance neighbours. And not just noise nuisance neighbors hitting each other, throwing stuff, lying, playing loud music, dealing marijuana, throwing cigarettes in our garden. Do i need to say more? That's right.... so it's understandable that the police were under shortcut 1 with us.

Noise nuisance neighbours, it could always be worse

We expected that, after the birth of their daughter, they would become a lot more normal or at least do. We were really looking forward to the birth I must say. Unfortunately peanut butter, wrong thought. The loud music, marijuana, friends staying over and always arguing with which resulted in a fight. Everything just went on! And that baby? That was somewhere in between. I have to say we never heard the little one cry for the first few months, but is it because she was happy or because she was stoned? No idea.

Youth care on the sidewalk

In any case, more neighbors got involved luckily and after a while Youth Care came to visit. We have been told by the local police officer that they can't do anything yet. The baby is white with often bags under the eyes and a bit slower in terms of development, but otherwise looks good. In any case, youth care is keeping an eye on things. Okay, hope it goes well was our first approach. But you often hear strange things, and unfortunately it didn't go well.

Even more noise nuisance from the neighbors

After their daughter's first birthday and many quarrels further, both between ourselves and the neighbors and other neighbors with them, we heard a huge scream in the middle of the night. A scream of pain, he had hit her. We sat straight up in bed. "What now?" Since they were shouting so loudly, we were able to catch fragments of the conversation.

The words, and apologies for writing it down, but I want you to see the seriousness, k*nker and ho*r passed every few seconds. Like, “Then hit me!”, “You have nowhere to go!”, “This house is mine!”, “Who is he?”, You want me to keep acting like a ho*r!” and “You're a ho*r aren't you?!” and more nonsense from which we concluded that all hell had broken loose.

Time for the police

Followed by running, stuff that fell on the floor and a door that was kicked hard made it clear to us:call the police. The neighbors above these people were already ahead of us and the police were already on the doorstep. Out of curiosity (sorry, I'm only human 😉 ) we stood in the porch watching. What would happen if they opened up to the police?

I had expected a big mouth at the police, followed by a 'nothing is wrong' as was often the case, but no. She ran, half stumbling, out with her screaming baby in her arms in only shorts and a camisole. Tears and snot ran down her face. Oh this was serious. As much as I had grown to hate them, I thought this was pathetic. I pushed our door further open and said she could sit with me. That was the first time she didn't look at me angry, arrogant or dirty, but walked past me gratefully with a watery smile.

Completely broken in her relationship

The police first went to check with the gentleman who was still raving through the house and my friend was busy with our daughter. He was startled awake by the quarrel and thought a night walk was a good idea. There I sat. With a girl on the couch with her daughter, completely broken. After having dried a glass of water and the tears, we talked extensively about her daughter.

That cheered her up a bit. Me just a little less. The little one had already been 1 year, 14 months, and had no teeth, could not walk and barely crawl. Of course some kids are a bit slower, hello my daughter only walked at 15 months, but that slow? Concern grew and my anger at their behavior continued to dissipate. They are still so young and neither have parents to explain everything to them. Maybe I was too mean to them?

What now?

Once the police came down again I heard the story from her. They had argued because he wanted to smoke, but there was nothing left. Then he started hitting her, knocking her over and throwing things at her. She said she ended up locking herself in the bedroom. But that she was afraid that he would kick in the door, so she opened the door again. Then he threw her to the ground. When asked where their daughter was, she did not answer and she kept dodging that question. The police eventually took her upstairs. After everything was calm again, they came to us. They had already been given a few things about the situation and felt very bad about it. It is not healthy for them, but certainly not for their daughter. They were definitely going to work on it.

Noise nuisance from neighbours, an untenable situation

After these words we were so happy. So we had all realized it well and hopefully peace will return soon! Unfortunately this never happened. The owners of both the house above us and our homeowner were so terribly passive that the police officer could do nothing more. And there you are, not only with the noise nuisance from your neighbors, but also with a knot in your stomach.

After a few months we gave up. It was a party every day. We were so mad that we were almost at each other's hair and we didn't want that. We also stayed with relatives more often than we lived in our own house. Time for another place. Looking for a home. And how quickly that succeeded! Within a month we were able to leave, delicious!! The best decision ever.

And what shall I say to you now? After two months in our new house I'm almost going to miss the drama too 😉 . Almost, but not quite. Do you recognize any problems with your neighbours? This site gives you the necessary information.
