11 x fun children's parties for a 7-year-old:which party do you choose?

Hoera! My youngest son is already seven years old and it's time for a children's party! The last few weeks I have immersed myself in a treasure hunt for children's parties, play paradises, theme parties and everything that comes with organizing fun children's parties. Now all I have to do is make a decision. Which of those fun kids party ideas are we going to do? I'm in doubt between these 11 fun children's parties for my 7-year-old son. What do you think is the best idea for a children's party?

Fun children's parties for a 7-year-old boy

Rental theme-box for children's party 7 years

This seems like so much fun! You rent a chest in a specific theme, such as a pirate, Indian, creep, football or gnome chest. The box contains everything you need:dress up clothes, tablecloths and games. As a parent you are the leader of the group and you will do assignments together. Do you want someone to help with the birthday party? You can sometimes also book guidance.

  • Advantage :not too expensive and can be arranged at home.
  • Disadvantage :you have all the junk at home too.

Maybe I also idealize a themed children's party a bit. Once I had set up a Dino treasure hunt myself, where the children were allowed to dig up dinosaur bones (cooked chicken bones) from the sandbox at the end. Great fun, but they were so excited that we ran from job to job and finished much faster than I thought. Still, I also like this jungle themed birthday from my fellow blogger!

Play paradise or trampoline park as a party

A children's party in a play paradise is something that many children love. I personally think it's terrible:busy, indoors and I'm not having fun with it. Not to mention the noise in such a hall. But let's be honest:you don't have much work at such a birthday party! Youngest son who turns 7 has been talking for two years now that he wants to go to a play paradise with his children's party.

  • Advantage :little clutter in the house. You can eat on location and the children have a great time.
  • Disadvantage: you keep them really busy for an hour, then eat and drink and then you're done...

We have a large indoor trampoline park nearby. You can also celebrate fun children's parties here. You book here for an hour of jumping, you can use the table with drinks for longer. Believe me, after an hour they are really tired! Yet there are also reasons why I prefer to avoid a play paradise.

Reptile-party

I already had a birthday party with reptiles at home with my oldest son and daughter. Both the boys and the girls loved it. We were allowed to choose four types of reptiles that came to our home. The guide told all about the animals:where they came from, what they eat, why they looked like this. All questions were answered. Both the boys and the girls listened breathlessly to the story. I had my doubts about that beforehand, but it went great! They were all allowed to pet or hold the animal. Nice to have a bearded dragon on your lap. And the real daredevils had their picture taken with a snake. By the way, turtle Bassie was the biggest hit during this children's party, because it was allowed to run loose.

  • Advantage: you have something special and all the attention
  • Disadvantage: is not there 😉

Sporty children's party

Children often enjoy moving, even during a party. A sporty children's party is therefore also suitable for fun children's parties, provided your child likes sports of course. For example, you can go climbing in a climbing forest, swim, play football, hockey or another sporting activity under supervision. Last week I even read about boot camp parties with different themes, such as a police party where the children receive training to catch the crooks. Super fun!

Recently, a parent had rented the gymnasium for two hours and asked a volunteer referee at the football club to whistle for this 'football tournament'. The boys had a great children's party.

  • Advantage :children can lose their energy!
  • Disadvantage :Many sports should be done in the open air, so nice weather is desirable

Virtual Reality-party

"A VR party? Yes, I want that!', shouted eldest son (10). During a virtual reality party, the children step into another world. Thanks to VR glasses, they can come face to face with a dinosaur or scream during a virtual roller coaster ride. This isn't a cheap kid's party, but I'm sure the bigger boys will love this. However, putting my youngest eye in an eye with a dino doesn't seem like a good plan to me 😉 .

  • Advantage: special and spectacular
  • Disadvantage: pricey

Creative children's party

Wonderfully idealistic:a group of children at a long table crafting the most wonderful things. I did that once at my daughter's children's party, but it was not a great success. The boys at the party finished quickly, the girls wanted to tinker longer and somewhere in between I was in control. But, I do like creative fun children's parties at a different location! No clutter in the house and a supervisor there. I'm still looking for my youngest son who is turning 7... or do you have a great idea for a creative children's party for boys?

  • Advantage :difficult to keep everyone happy with a mixed group
  • Disadvantage :clutter in the house

Children's party for 7 years in the playforest

Have fun, romp and play in nature. That is what can be done very well in a play forest. You bring a picnic basket and the kids can have their own way. Also don't forget the plasters for minor accidents. This is actually a great option for a successful low-budget children's party.

  • Advantage: cheap
  • Disadvantage: weather dependent

Birthday-party at the museum

There are plenty of museums that organize fun children's parties. The National Military Museum, Open Air Museum, Maritime Museum, Prison Gate Museum (which seemed very cool to me, by the way), as soon as you google for 'children's party museum' a lot of options come up! Looking for an educational and fun birthday party for your child? Then a museum is definitely an option.

  • Advantage: also doable in bad weather
  • Disadvantage: often you have to drive for a while

Celebrate-your-children's-party in a real-castle

You can feel like a knight or damsel for a day at a castle! For example, we once booked a children's tour of De Haar castle during a children's party. Since then, my kids know what the pegs on the wall of the men's bedroom are for. Now that I think about it again, this was a very nice children's party. After the tour we ate pancakes on location. No mess at home and the children came home with beautiful stories.

  • Advantage: no clutter in the house
  • Disadvantage: is actually not there 😉

Children's party on the farm

Fun for the youngest children:playing games on the farm. Feeding animals, romping in the haystack, making cheese. Put on the kids a pair of boots and they don't have to worry about dirty shoes!

  • Advantage: nice and varied, they can lose energy, often nearby
  • Disadvantage: none

Escape room

Big kids (from about 10 years old) think this is a great birthday party. At least, my oldest son came home bouncing after going to an escape room with a children's party. “We were outlaws and had to escape by solving riddles. Exciting mom, because the doorknob started to rattle by itself!', according to my pre-adolescent. Now he wants a party like that himself…'or a VR party mom!'.

  • Advantage: tough
  • Disadvantage: a bit pricey maybe

What-kids-party for my 7-year-old boy?

We have already booked a children's party. You will not believe it, but of all the fun children's parties, 'we' have chosen an indoor play paradise. Indeed, that option I wasn't really interested in. Anyway, after two years of nagging, I admit. "Come on, it's your birthday party," I think. Can that at least be crossed off his wish list? And I never, ever, ever have to do it again! Because that is an unwritten rule with us:you never have the same children's party twice per child. Oh well… and maybe it won't be that bad…
