Maaaaam, will you cover my books?

Book covers, do you remember that from back in the day? I do. Fortunately, because my son is only too happy to use it. For years in a row he has been asking me if I want to cover his books. The first years I always involved him, as befits a good mother. He will have to learn to cover himself, won't he?

Book covers, are you still teaching your child that?

Well, or not. That is a good question. Yesterday I posted a photo on Facebook with the books I covered for my teenager this year. And in the many reactions I get, I still read between the lines enough parents (especially mothers, I believe) who take care of the covers of their children's books. All curling parents apparently. But how bad is it to take this off your hands?

Anyway, as I said, in the first few years I made attempts to teach my teenage son to cover. I can say without success. In the end we divided the tasks. I cover his books, he still tapes the corners with masking tape to keep them stronger. In itself an excellent division that is also pleasant because together at the table you come to nice / good conversations.

Am I handling this right now or not?

This year, of course, he asked again if I would like to cover his books. And every time he asks 'pops up' I doubt. Shall I just do it? Should I grumble that he has to learn it himself? Shall I take him back into the book cover process so that he learns on his own? Or do I just let him buy his school supplies and do the rest. Or are we going to do it again, I cover the books, he the tape? Or am I just doing it all by myself this year.

I chose the latter. And made a joke of it right away, as you can see in this photo. I covered some of his books with Sinterklaas wrapping paper 😉 . Just for fun. He did appreciate it, and even his friends at school exclaimed - after he took the books out of his school bag - that his mother has a sense of humor. Look! That makes up for everything. Despite the doubt, I'm glad I covered his books again this year. It is actually so squeaky, it puts a smile on my adolescent face and this year he thinks about me every day when he is at school 😉 .

Do you also cover your children's books? Or do you let them do it themselves?

ps… don't feel like covering the books? There are also stretchable covers for sale in the store. I see now that they also have very funny ones at Hema.

What's the best way to cover books?

I didn't have to search the internet for it, the covers of the books were still so much in my system that after years I just started working on it and got it done in no time. Thanks to my father… who stamped that in 😉 . If you don't know how to do it anymore... check the video below.

ps… I think I do it a little more conveniently, but how could it be otherwise after years of experience 😉 .
