Toddler snacks from breakfast to dinner:inspiration for a toddler menu

A snack for mom, and a snack for dad… You are busy as a parent. Either they refuse to eat, or you won't get the toddler snacks. And then the question is:what do you actually give them? Do you go for standard jars from the supermarket, or do you prefer to make something yourself? Or do you go for a mix of homemade and bought yourself?

Toddlers can basically eat anything adults eat. It is better not to give them only raw fish or meat, and products with raw milk or egg. And so this is a great time to try out flavors! You can also teach them to 'eat' things that way.

Toddler-tastings that get them through the day

All right, let's first look at what's actually healthy. What exactly does a growing toddler need? You'd better say:what not. All that growing and discovering the world already costs a lot of energy… And then there are also the tantrums that take a lot from that 'poor little body' 😉 .

For toddlers (and actually for all people) it is important that they eat as varied as possible. This makes them big and strong, and it teaches them to appreciate flavours. And that prevents long faces at dinner, when they are a bit bigger. In any case, toddlers need sufficient:

  • proteins
  • carbohydrates
  • fats
  • vitamins
  • minerals

Hint: Are you unsure whether your child is getting enough of all this? Then make sure you support them extra. For example by means of HiPP 4 Junior Combiotik. A real Boost Bite for children which is easy to add to your child's meal. In addition, you can also add them to toddler snacks in between or you can just make a nice drink with the sandwich. HiPP 4 Junior Combiotik is suitable for children from 24 months and can support them extra in their development. Not just in winter, but all year round. This way, the Vitamin D content and Calcium remain at the right level.

Start a toddler's day with a good breakfast

Breakfast is considered by many to be the most important meal of the day. And as a toddler you can indeed use a good starter. After all, there is another whole voyage of discovery waiting for them, and that consumes energy. It is smart to start with a fiber-rich breakfast. Bread contains carbohydrates, proteins, fiber, B vitamins, iodine and iron. All important nutrients for a growing toddler. So instead of fumbling toddler snacks together, you can also give them a healthy sandwich.

Hearty lean toppings are then best for your toddler, but you can of course spoil them with a sweet sandwich from time to time. Tip:go for strawberry or apple, or peanut butter that consists of 100% nuts. And don't forget to pay no attention to all those regulations, because who didn't grow up with the occasional Dutch sandwich with chocolate sprinkles? That is also part of toddler snacks (and you never get too big for it!).

Something other than a sandwich; variation in toddler snacks works!

Most children like a sandwich, but variety is key! So make sure that you regularly serve something else healthy to toddler snacks. Add a scoop of HiPP 4 Junior Combiotik and you also immediately provide the necessary extra vitamins and minerals! We are happy to give you some tips for inspiration.

A healthy muffin

Sugar-free and with apple, walnut and/or raisins. These delicious muffins that go in like you put a cake in front of them! You can find the recipe for the sugar-free muffins here.

Yummy breakfast plate with porridge

I used to really enjoy it… a plate with Brinta. My brother still does 😉 . And Lotte also ate a plate of porridge for breakfast for a long time, but she preferred bran. Super healthy of course as toddler snacks and also a nice hearty, fiber-rich breakfast that will get you through the morning. And how about a Bircher Muesli? Then you also have your fruit inside.

Fruit is fine as part of the toddler breakfast, even if you eat porridge. Go for pear or forest fruits, they contain extra fiber. Good for toddler bowel movements, and also very healthy.

Kids' smoothie

A tasty smoothie is also an excellent idea for a change. They may not be snacks for your toddler, but it does provide the necessary vegetables and fruit, and a spoonful of growth milk makes these smoothies completely suitable as a Boost Bite. I also have some recipes myself, but I found these at Pauline's kitchen.

Delicious healthy pancakes as tasty toddler snacks

Pancakes are a favorite of almost every child. Did you know that pancakes are (can) be very healthy? At least if you make the batter in the right way and with the right ingredients. And with the ingredients from this healthy pancake recipe you will certainly succeed. In addition, it is also ready in no time!

Coffee-time? Let your toddler enjoy a babyccino!

uhm, what? We were talking about toddler snacks, right? Yes, of course. But we would like to point out that you can also have a nice coffee moment with your toddler. Can you talk the last tantrum right now? Or just have a nice chat of course!

Have you ever heard of the babyccino? Suitable for toddlers and topper among the liquid snacks. I recently wrote a blog about it.

The snack of the toddler snacks:the fruit snack

On that day of the sandwich with chocolate sprinkles, but actually also on all those other days, it should not be missing:the fruit snack. Tip:freezing fruit snacks saves you a lot of time!

Dinner toddler snacks

As we said before, variety is the key to success when it comes to toddler snacks. That way you ensure that they get as many different nutrients as possible, which they all need.

From breakfast to dinner:it's dinnertime!

Do you have an easy eater at home? Or do you regularly struggle to clear that plate? Not all children have broad tastes, and that can make it difficult to get them to eat well and varied. However, with a little testing you can probably discover what they all like. And don't forget that their taste is also developing. What they don't like now, they might like a year from now. For this it is important that children continue to taste flavors and keep trying things.

Do you want to vary a bit with the food for your child? Then you can also make toddler snacks yourself with a little effort. Healthier than ready-made snacks from the supermarket, and actually not that much extra work… Because you have to cook anyway. Looking for inspiration for tasty toddler snacks?
