“Lovers Shirts”:Photographing the Beauty of Breakups

WARNING:Do not look at these photos if you have just been badly weighed down. Apart from this small point (don't thank us), the project we spotted is worth a look.

Photographer Carla Richmond Coffing and writer Hanne Steen created a series of photos as part of the "Lovers Shirts" project to understand this trend of wearing an ex's clothes after they left us.

And it's true that it speaks... Who hasn't had a shot of leftover smell on the pillow of a Bob who set sail? Who hasn't watched, heart so heavy and eyes full of tears, a t-shirt forgotten behind the laundry basket in the bathroom?

Placed in front of the lens, each woman expresses her feelings about wearing a former boyfriend's t-shirt, while Carla immortalizes their post-breakup emotions. Everything is recorded and combined into a video (see here). "Touch the t-shirt, remember when you first met this person"... Ouch! It's a bit of a knife-edge, but it's moving.

How can something so simple be charged with so much energy?

A reflection on loss and nostalgia:"How do you attach meaning and feeling to a piece of clothing? What do these t-shirts remind us of? How can something so simple be charged with so much energy? What is the relationship between leaving/leaving an inanimate object like a T-shirt, and leaving behind what still binds us invisibly to our ex-companion? asks Hanne Steen.

So obviously, when that happens to us, we feel a little less magnified. By sniffing your "Salon du vin 2013" t-shirt, you end up blowing your nose in it. But we still invite you to discover the entire project, right here, because it's simple, but beautiful.

NB:While discovering the photos, you will also see four men, who are the exes in question (and that's less proud!).
