How long does it take to fall in love?

This question has already crossed many minds:how long does it take to fall in love? We must give time to time, some will think, but science has another theory:it is not a matter of months, or weeks, or even minutes. Indeed, according to a study by researchers at Syracuse University in New York and published in The Journal of Sexual Medicine , falling in love would only take 1/5th of a second. Yes, it's very fast, and we're not even sure we have time to realize who we have in front of us in such a short time...

A matter of the brain more than the heart

We tend to think that everything is a matter of the heart when it comes to love, but in the case of love at first sight, it is in the brain that it happens. And more precisely, it is our hormones that are playing tricks on us. As the scientists behind this discovery explain, at the sight of a loved one, the brain releases nearly twelve hormones that affect our complex cognitive functions. Clearly, our brain creates a mental image of said person without really taking into account their true identity. And this is how the feeling of love is born!

Note, however, that not all stories start the same way and that love at first sight is not the only way to fall in love. Moreover, as another study has shown, women fall in love in 5 months on average, compared to 3 months for men.

And you, how long does it take for you to fall in love?
