Toutim, a card game for 3-6 year olds

Do you know Toutim? Toutim is a card game for children aged 3 to 6, which uses shapes, colors and senses. With the 50 cards that make up the game, children exercise their sense of observation, but also their sensory memory (hot, cold, etc.) and their ability to justify / argue their choices.

Important:each card has 2 colored sides:the side with the white border contains an object (lamp, lollipop, hedgehog…), the other side (blue border) contains a characteristic (hot, cold, spicy, sweet, salty, smells good or not…).

Rules of the Toutim game

After shuffling the cards, each player starts the game with 5 cards, which they place in front of them object side up. visible (lamp, pacifier, hedgehog…).

We then turn over a card from the draw pile in the middle of the table to discover a characteristic (hot, cold, spicy, sweet, salty, smells good or not…).

Concrete example:if the card characteristic returned is “yellow color” and that I have an item card in my deck “sun”, I can play. I my item card “sun” on the characteristic card “yellow color”, but turning it upside down (which reveals a new characteristic , for example “cold”), and it is then up to the next player to play, for example by placing an object card "ice Cube". And so on, until a player lays down all their cards and wins the game.

Our opinion on the game Toutim

An interesting game, quite easy to play (easier to play than to explain how it works on a blog post!). Our son likes this game, and after a few games the automatisms start to work instead of thinking.

It can be played between 2 to 4 players, and a game is quite fast, about 15 minutes. You can do 2 affiliate games, not more generally because you can quickly get bored. Better to play 2 games from time to time, rather than spend an entire afternoon playing it and put the game away for good afterwards 😉
